Lightbulb How to Install MT4 on LINUX

    Hi All,

If you have a LINUX machine like I do, You still can install and use the MT4 platform with full functionalities!

This is the Roboforex MT4 installed on my ubunto:
    Attachment 5456

All you need to do is to Install a compatibility software called Wine on your linux computer.

To do that just Go to _http://www.winehq.org/download/ and download and install the wright package according to your Linux version. (If there is a stable version chose it instead of any newer version)

I'm not going into detailing the steps of installing wine as it vary with the Linux version you have on your computer.
For that you can follow the steps on the Wine website. But I will try to reply to your questions and guide you through the process.

Wine actually allows you to run any ".exe" file (Windows executable) and it is better than any other emulator. You can read about Wine here : http://www.winehq.org/about/

After Wine is installed it will automatically take in charge any Windows executable on your computer. So all you have to do now is to download the MT4 installer and just double click it, and install it normally like you do on a Windows OS.

After installing MT4 you just run it normally, with a double click (no further setups are needed).

(I really encourage traders to use linux as it is better than Windows in the matter of security.)

    I hope this helps.

Linus is the best operating system ever made in this line. But linux is only used for networking purpose. Using them to trade market is just madness and you can't even find a terminal for linux operating system. That is weird but its true.

    Hi,

Of course you can have both Linux and windows on same computer. For that, you have to create a new partition and then install linux on it; then choose at the startup menu, from wich partition your laptop should boot.

Alternatively, you can test linux without installing it. You can do this using the Live CD (I already provided a download link for the live CD here) to do this burn and insert the live CD and boot from it.

    Hope this answers your question.

If you are fine with windows there is no need you switch to Linux. ;) But you may be forced to use Linux as I did, due to hardware problems in your computer. For my case, Windows could no longer detect my hard drive, so instead of buying a new one I simply installed Linux and my hard drive is working like new. Here is a simple fact about linux: Old hardware get a second life with this OS!!

So if this happens to you one day, the good news is that you can still trading using MT4 ;) even witth linux.

There is many advantages of linux over windows, but there is no point here to mention them as this is not the subject of the thread.

Hope this clarified the point of using linux instead of windows.

Linux operating system has some option to running the system from cd or removal drive so we can use linux system anytime we want but one thing that we have to install mt4 package for linux in our hard disk so we can enjoy this version of mt4 to running on linux or just trade with free system.
