    Swing trading on currency market

    Hi, traders!

In this thread I’ve decided to put together information and some slides from the webinar I’ve made today – «Swing trading Forex»

What is swing trading? How «swing trading» differs from «momentum trading»? Actually, there are many approaches to swing trading, but I will express my point of view on the subject.

Swing trading is trading on intervals more than 1-3 days, some traders may call it «long term» or «medium term», but in fact, good swing trade can last no more than 4-5 days. Swing trades are usually level-based trades. For example, if you trade momentum, you can capture short-term overbought or oversold condition of the market (imbalance) and trade-off scenario of inventory correction.

If you trade momentum, your trade will look like that:

You see, that typically you will buy high to sell higher. But in this case you act like a sniper, wait for perfect timing for your entry, then aggressively go with the market, capture profit and exit.
Things are different with swing trading. For momentum trader it’s natural to exit pretty quickly (duration 3-4 hours for intraday trade) because his price is not relatively very good – momentum trader is unable to survive pullbacks, rotations and other activity of the market, before it reaches the target. That’s why momentum trader will tend to quickly reduce his risks, minimize stop losses or set them to breakeven.

Swing trader expects to get good price while his timing may not be ideal. If you expect to get good price, market can revisit your entry several times, rotate above your entry (if you go long), go sideways, and only after 2-3 days of sideways action price can break out from a range in the direction of your position (or may not break out)

Typical swing trade looks like that:

So, I’ve structurized difference between momentum and swing trades:

The most important thing here is to find the turning point when a can find the swing point there it become easy for trader to enter and grab his share. Keep in mind in the trending market price will not break the basic rules of the trend and in ranging market it did not obey any rule. Just stay concerned with the trend and never try to capture the swing in the ranging and non-trending market. It difficult and a lot of practice is needed for the same.

all depend upon the trade that how can he manage his trade better you should do you best to earn profit in trdaing market and get back and i think it is a good idea that you wait for your perfect timing and then you make a trade and when you think this is a good profit for you and then you get back and close the trade.

yes this is what majority of Forex traders do but it is not worth it at all because we all need to understand that making money from this market is actually more than this because when we invest in long term or medium term is more profitable than what might happen at the end of the day because we need to understand the fact that making money is not going to be an easy thing to understand at all.

swing trading is good but it requires some experience and requires a capital with suitable amount of money to be able to withstand the wide range of movement of the market until reach the desired target and so it is not suitable for the traders that have a small capital because this expose their account to loss at any time if they trade wrongly

I can say that you do not know much of the swing trdaing systems, if you do, you will know that it is a system that need lower amount of trading capital. You may only increase the risk you are taking on it. The main thing of the swing trading is to know the right point to enter the market, you will now limit your stop loss to 12 pips if you enter. Take profits may be 50 pips or more.

Swing trading is good and every forex trader loves to trade it because it gives us more and more pips but need more active and sharp mindedness of a forex trader. Extra effort is required by the forex trader so a trader should be perfect and if a trader is new in forex market then his target should be low because low target increases the confidence level in trading.

swing trading is basically going long on any pair we might be trading, though before one can do this, proper market analysis is needed becasue the market might change course at anytime, though of resent trading long has being the best thing to do when trading due to the Xmas coming up,the market is not trending on the higher time frame.

swing trading is actually very good as you said, but i do not think that it is correct to say all traders love and use it because that is certainly not true. The majority of traders do not have the skill, patience and knowledge required to be successful swing or longterm traders.

using swing trading means the trader uses time time frame h4 and confirm with D1 and w1 so that the analysis uses longterm capital, traders need to have a large and well adapted to the size of the size of existing cash management in order to experience loss of time or loss does not hold up to a margin call

Trading on swing has its own key trading facilities. There are many who says they will swing to get more money, at the and they fails on their journey of swinging. The swing need a basement of trading. And if you just one to hold it for just 3-4 hours as said on this thread the 1 hour time will be the one that will make this perfect.
